The Soviet-Afghan war: breaking the hammer & sickle: from 1980 to early 1989, the once-invincible Red Army became entrapped in Afghanistan. To avoid the same pitfalls, the U.S. need only keep from straying from its original military objectives | VFW Magazine | Find Articles at BNET
Maybe we should really check out what was said almost 10 years ago and remember to learn from others past mistakes. Let's pray that we as a nation will learn and do what it right and just for the Afghans and our own men and women. Let's seek our Lord's guidance and pray to that end.

What Is Happening?
What Is Happening?
Along with severe weather and deadly tornadoes hitting many areas in the USA, various large earthquakes in many areas of the world, wars, fighting and the uprising in the middle-east, there is now flooding in many areas that is ruining crops, homes and possessions. The loss of life due to the tornadoes has been tragic. Just recently, the news released a report of 232 people still missing in Joplin, Missouri.
Many people are asking this question, "What Is Happening?" People are wondering what is going on. Your acquaintances are asking, "What's with all these natural disasters?" Your neighbors may be saying, "How come there seems to be so many more of these things and that they seem to be getting more frequent and severe?" What will you say?
Within the last year there have been two individuals that claimed at least national attention for setting dates of the end of the world and the Lord taking His people away. Others are asking, "What do you think of this?" Are you prepared to answer this question?
The word says in 2 Tim. 2:15 "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." We are to study the Word, asking the Lord to reveal His Word to us, not just use a single verse out of context. This is where many get ideas that are not sound. When we study the whole Word learning what God has to say, then we will be prepared to answer those who ask these questions bringing them Truth and Hope.
Jesus gives us answers, in Matthew 24:3 - 8 (New Living Translation)
"Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world? Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come."
Even the earth is crying out for His redemption and the return of the Lord. We do not know the day or the hour, but we see the signs of the times. As the disasters and other things happen we see that just like a woman in labor, the pains get stronger and more frequent. What used to be once in a century storms seem to be coming more frequently, with even several in a year. I'm hearing the older generation people say, "I can not remember anything like this."
What should we do? We should be studying His Word, praying and having a personal relationship with our Lord and be at peace in the midst of the storm. We are to let our lights shine, be the salt and light of the world and full of peace, hope and joy. They will ask! They will come to you and say, "What must I do to be saved?" It's our part to share the Good News, having a World View, and reaching out to others for the time is nearer then it was before.
Acts 13:47 (New Living Translation) "For the Lord gave us this command when he said, I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the earth."

You Ask! "What Should I Pray For?"
You ask, ‘What should I pray for?’
Pretty much all you have to do today in turn on your computer, TV, Radio or pick up a newspaper. There are so many things to pray about in this point in time that you could be praying all day and not run out of topics to discuss and petition the Lord about, but I will name a few.
How about praying for the victims and family members of the huge tornado outbreak in the South in the recent weeks? At least one that tore through Alabama was an F5 tearing houses off the foundations and scattering them around, with winds exceeding 261 miles an hour. Many people have died and they are still going through the debris of homes and businesses to find the missing.
Or you could pray for the various governmental, ethnic and religious fighting going on in the middle-east. There are wars and fighting going on and protesters shot.
Then again to the heart of America is the flooding that has sent a deluge of water from the might Mississippi River overflowing at record rates, dating back to the early 1900s, into homes, cites, towns and farmland as it makes its way to the Gulf.
Now today on the news we have North Korea and Iran Trading missile technology according to the U.N. Doesn’t sound too good does it?
Just out a few minutes ago: An angry mob attacks Christian protesters in Egypt. The protesters were peacefully demanding drastice measures to heal religious tensions. Scores of people have been injured.
Well, these are the signs of the times and we are to watch and pray, live our lives with the peace of God and be an example and witness.
Come quickly Lord!

Wars, Rumors of Wars and Disasters Globally - Pray!
The Middle-East needs our prayers with unrest in almost every area. Listed are some specific things and areas to pray for. Pray for:
That the he peace and hope that surpasses all understanding to fill the Christians in these areas.
That the Lord will reveal Himself to the lost and dying.
That provision and blessings will be manifested in the lives of the Christian people so that they may show the love of the Lord to their fellow neighbors.
Here is the news:
Yemeni police open fire on protesters, killing 3.
Syrian Security forces shot dead at least at least 100 protesters on Friday. This is one the heaviest death tolls in a month of escalating demonstrations. Forces have shot at the mourners today and even those coming out of Mosques.
In Libya the fighting has not subsided, but the forces loyal to the present government have withdrawn from the port city now, leaving it to the rebels for the present.
I have received many emails from Pakistan Christian leaders asking for our prayers as well with the violence and discrimination against the Christian minority.
Then keep Nigerian people in your prayers as well.
Japan's tsunami ravaged coast received its first foreign leader to tour this area. Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard expressed shock and sorrow while visiting the evacuees at a shelter and seeing the devastation in the area. The Japanese people are in desperate need of Hope.
Haitian pastors are still asking for your continued prayers and support in their efforts to help the people.
As you pray about these things, would you pray as well about what the Lord would have you to do. Contact us at Youth Quests for ways to help in these areas.

Christian Incumbent Reelected - Nigerian Rioting - Please Pray
After the Nigerian incumbent president, who is a Christian, won the election the Muslim opposition started rioting. Burned corpses with machete wounds lay in roads and smoke rose above this city where rioting broke out again this Tuesday. The Muslims were angered by the announcement of the Christian incumbent winning the election.
Please remember the Christian Nigerian people who are in danger. Pray for their protection and that they will be so blessed that the people around them will be amazed and ask them "What is the reason of the hope that is in you?" and "What must I do to be saved?"

Wow! What Can I Say!
With the current unrest, fighting, troubles all over the middle-east and the many problems in Japan from the disasters, we really do need to pray for this conditions and the people. All you have to do today is turn on the TV or go to a news webpage to find that there are Wars and rumors of wars, kingdom against kingdom and the earth it's self crying out for the return of the Lord.
What do we do?
What do we do?
- We are to pray and watch for our redemption draws near. We should be praying for our fellow man and for the people groups around the world. Many areas of the world and what his happening there have been overshadowed from the current concerns of the middle-east and Japan. But, in the last few weeks there was a major earthquake in northeastern Myanmar, there are still major problems in Haiti with many people in need of help. Then I have received several letters from pastors and Christians in Pakistan concerning the persecution and more.
- Do what we can! There are several ways you can do what you can. You may choose to go yourself to one or more of these locations to personally help. You may choose to support someone who feels lead to go. You may choose to contribute to one of the many projects going on for relief and reconstruction, building an orphanage or even help develop self-sustaining agricultural projects. But, all of us can pray or become a prayer partner for someone.
Contact Us at Youth Quests International for ideas on how you may help or participate.

Pray that the Lord will reveal Himself in Love and Hope to the Multitudes!
Turmoil & Heartaches Worldwide – What's Happening!
Japan's earthquake and Tsunami is the world's costliest natural disaster. Residents were warned not to give babies tap water because of radiation leaking from the nuclear plants and produce is also affected from these areas. Also in Tokyo there has been some increased radiation registered.
Unrest in the Middle East: There was a bus bombing in Jerusalem Wednesday just a few hours after militants vowed revenge for deadly Israeli raids on Gaza.
While in Libya just the U.S. role in Libya costs hundreds of millions so far in an international assault to destroy Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's air defenses and save rebels from likely defeat, Gaddafi's tanks and forces resume their attack on the rebel-held town of Misrata, moving back onto the offensive just hours after Western strikes silenced their guns.
Then In Syria president Bashar al-Assad made an unprecedented ledge of greater freedom and more prosperity to the Syrian people on Thursday as anger mounted following a crackdown on protesters that left at least 37 dead.
Thursday night in Myanmar there was a 6.8 - magnitude earthquake that struck in Northeast Myanmar shaking buildings as far away as Bangkok, Thailand. One person was confirmed dead from the quake.
Hey! Do you think it could be the signs of the times? Let's continue to pray for the safety of the Christians, Hope to flourish, that many would come to know the Lord at this time and ask ourselves what we can do to help.

News and Prayer Requests From Libya to Japan!
There are several things happening today that require our prayers from Japan to Libya. In Japan while they are still fighting the problems at the nuclear power plant sites officials have found that radiation contamination has now entered the food chain. On another front French warplanes have now fired the first shots the broadest international military effort since the Iraq war in support of an uprising that seemed on the verge of defeat in Libya.
A warplane from France opened fire on a target in Libya today, opening the coordinated international campaign to prevent strongman Moammer Gadhafi's forces from crushing an uprising. U.S missile attack on Libya prepared, but the American ships and aircraft stationed in and around the Mediterranean Sea did not participate in the initial French air mission Saturday. There are many people in Libya that have been affected or killed by mercenaries or the forces loyal to Gadhafi.
The first signs that contamination from Japan's crippled nuclear complex has seeped into the food chain as officials stated on Saturday that radiation levels in spinach and mile from farms near the tsunami-stricken facility exceeded government safety limits. Many areas of the northern coast need assistance as the full extent of the missing and loss of life continue to rise.
Please pray and ask the Lord what He would have you do!

Continue To Pray For Japan!
As exhausted Japanese engineers are scrambled to fix power cables to two crippled nuclear power stations today they are also trying to prevent a deadly radiation release while the country is trying to cope with the deadly earthquake and tsunami aftermath. The news has stated that there will most likely be some radiation sickness and exposure deaths from this incident. This is the world worst nuclear accident since the Chernobyl disaster.
There are so many ramifications that are showing up from these disasters. Some villages and towns have yet to be searched for survivors and recovering the bodies from the earthquake and tsunami. It's my prayer that the Lord will reveal himself to these grief and disaster stricken people of Japan and draw them to Himself.
Let's continue to be in prayer for those who morn, those who have lost everything, for the hungry and homeless.
As of right now we have not been in contact with any of our contacts in northern Japan, but I urge you to make every effort to help the people in Japan by contributing to those organizations that are on the ground there right now trying to be of assistance in anyway possible.

Japan - Pray for Hope In The Midst Of The Storm!
In the midst of all this destruction, death, loss of possessions, fear and mourning in Japan there is something each of us can do. Today while in prayer the Lord revealed to me something that we really need to pray about for the Japanese people.
While hundreds of bodies wash ashore in the quake-hit areas; two nuclear power plant building have suffered blasts and problems as well in the third; the very real fears of a nuclear meltdown loom; I was reminded of a four-way conversation I had some with some pastors in northern Japan a year ago. There concern was for the hundreds of Japanese youth who were committing suicide for fear of failure and loss of hope. In their culture they see suicide as an honorable thing to do to save face.
What the Lord reminded me was that we all need to be praying against this spirits of suicide, depression and hopelessness. Pray that the Lord will reveal Himself to them and give them a hope and a future to these people who have suffered and lost so much. What the enemy has meant for evil the Lord can turn into good. Let's pray for HOPE!

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE JAPANESE PEOPLE! EARTHQUAKES / TSUNAMI!
I wanted to write a quick prayer request to remind us all about the events that took place not long ago. There was a huge earthquake in Japan with several aftershocks; then a second earthquake in a different area of Japan as well. Between these two earthquakes and aftershocks there have been several people killed. Also, this first earthquake triggered a tsunami, tidal wave, which swept across the Japanese seaboard. There has been enormous damage and more loss of life. Please pray for the people who are Christian for their safety and peace in the midst of this devastation. But also pray for the many people who do not know the Lord, to look for answers in our Savior, that the Lord would reveal Himself to them in a marvelous way.

Let's Pray For A Myanmar!
I wanted to post today an email out of Myanmar from a pastor that I have been in contact for a couple of years. Great news...God is moving by his Spirit and saving souls.
"Dear friend,
God is greatly moving with us in this season for this season is spiritual harvesting and great rejoicing in His fields. We got the 8 new converted from Buddhist background at last Saturday. We held salvation training in our local church and the new comers responsed the gospel which we preached.
Therefore rejoice with us for God was amazingly moving with us. And then we will hold salvation training in this Saturday with the new comers who are willing to join with our invitation. We hope there will be about 30 Buddhists which are the new comers who interest the gospel.
Please uphold with us in your prayer. We will send you the photos later.
In His service, Paul"
Let us continue to keep these new converts in prayer and pray for the continued outpouring of His Spirit and salvation to a lost and dieing world.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST! HAITIAN PASTOR
I wanted to post a special prayer request, on this Thanksgiving Day, for Pastor Michel Ilbert Leblanc who lives and ministers in Southwest Haiti in a village near Torbeck. This is one of the pastors and in the area we worked with this past summer. From what I understand from Pastor David is that Pastor Michael is very sick and under much persecution. From personal experience in working with this pastor I wanted you all to know he is a great example of the shepherd caring for flock. He continually rises early to tend to his fields and work, works with the people throughout the day and late into the night ministering, praying for and waging war with the spiritual forces in the area. I was extremely impressed with the hardworking humble spirit about him. Please make it a matter of prayer to specifically prayer for Pastor Michael Ilbert Leblanc, his family and the church there in this village. Pray for his complete healing, renewed strength and for the Lord to encamp and place a hedge around him.

Prayer Update For Haiti!
Port-Au-Prince, Haiti -- The death toll this morning rose to at least 1,344 in the cholera outbreak in Haiti that has sickened almost 57,000 people, the Haitian government said Monday.
This information came as international health officials predicted that the scale of Haiti's cholera epidemic will exceed initial estimates of 200,000 over coming months.
"Having seen how the bacteria is behaving in this environment with these people, having seen just how poor and how hungry the people are, we know we have to revise our numbers up," said Nyka Alexander, a spokeswoman for the World Health Organization, in a phone call with CNN.
Health workers say the Haitian population lacks immunity to cholera and Haitian medical workers lack experience treating the infection because the bacterium has not been detected on the island in more than a century.
With the violence spreading across Haiti and the impoverished country's weak health and sanitation systems are only compounding the problem. The perfect storm for cholera in Haiti. "Another factor why this epidemic has spread as far as it has and why it will continue to spread, is dirty water, poor sanitation, no toilets, malnutrition and poor access to health centers," Alexander said. "People have to walk five hours to a health center and if you have diarrhea you're not going to make it."

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE HAITIAN PEOPLE! CHOLERA OUTBREAK!
I know I have asked for prayer earlier this month regarding cholera epidemic sweeping through the populace. Now there are at least 1,200 Haitians that have already died from the bacterial disease and there are more than 19,500 cases countrywide, according to the Ministry of Health. As the mortality rate for cholera patients edged up from 7 percent to more than 9 percent in recent days, graves on the outskirts of the capital were being filled with multiple white body bags near where the earthquake victims were buried. Some relief that had been held up has been released to help with this outbreak. However, with 1.5 million people still homeless after the quake, plus an ongoing cholera epidemic this nation and the people really need our prayers. I am asking you to really make it a mater of prayer.
